Convert JPG to PDF

Post by Silvan » Mon Aug 10, 2020 9:59 am

Hi all

I want to convert a JPG into an PDF/A document. I'm using the GDPictureConverterClass and call GDPictureConverter.openfromfile(path,4) and GDPictureConverterClass.saveaspdf(path,3). I get a PDF with one page and the image on it. Everything works perfectly except for one thing: my JPG has an ICC-Profile "Adobe RGB 1998" and at the end in the PDF the color space is "Device RGB" (so no ICC-Profile). I opened the image with the GDPictureImage class and exported the ICC-Profile to check the existence and its perfectly fine.
Is there a way to convert the image into a PDF and preserving the color space?

Thanks!

Hi Silvan,

We are making decent progress on your task however we still need some more time before this is solved.

When our solution is finished you will be needing to use the ConvertToPDF method:
https://www.gdpicture.com/guides/gdpicture/Gd ... rttopdf%2C

As soon as we have completely sorted this out I will let you know so you may try this out.

Thank you for remaining patient.

Hi Silvan,

We have implemented a solution for you. This will be available in our next minor release.
GdPictureDocumentConverter class will receive a new property/setting: EnableICC. If this is set to "true" the converter will try to preserve the ICC profile colorspace data from the loaded document during the conversion. This will apply to both with ConvertToPDF and SaveAsPDF methods.

I will let you know when our next release is out.
You can get an idea of this from here: https://www.gdpicture.com/products/version-history/

Hi Silvan,

Our solution is available for you to download.
You can download it here https://www.gdpicture.com/download-gdpicture/

For future suggestions it would be more practical for you to directly create a ticket here: https://orpalis.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

This would better allow us to track your specific problem as well as update you sooner when our newer releases come out.

We are very greatful for your suggestion as it allows us to greatly improve our software overall.
Have a nice day!

Hi Hugo

I just tried out the new GDPicture version and it works perfectly fine! Thank you for that fast and transparent development process. Next time i'm gonna use the zendesk link as you suggested.

Kind regards Silvan
