Hi,
I can confirm that SHA-256 is used as default now, as from 2016 onward the SHA-1 algorithm is deprecated.

We have a "Symantec Class 3 SHA256 Code Signing CA" certificate. I can only sign if I set the hash to SHA1. ApplySignature returns a status of "CertificateWrongFormat" if I try SHA256. Am I doing something wrong.

Hi,

The latest release contains modifications that enable automatic recognition of supported hash. Supported hash should be automatically recognized after using any SetSignatureCertificateFrom* method.
If the issues persists i would advise to open support ticket so that we can get a closer look at what is going on and solve the issues.
