2d Barcodes

I am sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't see any topics relating to this issue and I cannot search for "2d" only.
Anyway, I have downloaded the evaluation version of the .Net SDK and have found the 1d barcode software works well. Is there a possiblity of support for 2d barcodes in the future ? I understand there may be patent issues involved which may be the reason you haven't implemented this functionality ?
