GdViewer v10.2.15 - A couple of issues...

Post by OddsInc » Thu May 01, 2014 7:18 pm

Hello,

This is my first post to the Forum...
So please excuse any violations of "Forum Etiquette".

We are currently using GdPicture version 10.2.15...
Our application is written in a VB6/ActiveX environment.
The issues below are occurring under Windows XP and Windows 7.

A brief background...
We did an evaluation of GdPicture back in September/October of 2013. We converted one of our existing applications that used Pegasus ImagXpress. All in all it was relatively easy to convert everything and get things working. I don't remember exactly what version we used to evaluate GdPicture, but I think it was version 10.0.something.

After that success and the fact that the Price and Feature Set was so much better...
We decided to purchase GdPicture Ultimate in December 2013. We have been waiting for an oportune time to re-deploy our application to all our clients. So now is the time to do some final testing and deployment.

There was one little "Scrollbar" annoyance in GdViewer originally (and it is still there)...
We are using "ScrollBars = True".
When the ZoomMode is set to something where the full image will not fit in the Window.
The "first" image displayed after the object is created shows no scroll bars.
If you manipulate the zoom or display another image, then the scroll bars appear as they should.
Tried using "ForceScrollBars = True", but it had no effect.

We have a bigger problem with the Printing...
During the evaluation in September/October the following code worked just fine.

Code: Select all

objViewer1.DisplayFromFile ImageFilePath
objViewer1.PrintSetDocumentName ImageFilePath
objViewer1.PrintSetShowPrintingProgress False
objViewer1.PrintFit
Since we upgraded to version 10.2.15 all we get is "blank" images...
We are using TIF images (not necesarilly scanned using GdPicture).
Have also tried several different "Print" methods with no success.

Any assistance you can provide is appreciated...
We can not deploy our application until the Printing issue is resolved.

Thanks a bunch!

Hello Rick,

First: welcome here!

The printing issue should have been resolved in our latest release. For the other problem I suggest you to open a ticket on the helpdesk by providing all needed information to reproduce the problem.

To download our latest release: https://www.gdpicture.com/download.php

Let me know if you need further info.

With best regards,

Loïc

Thanks Loic,

Glad to be a part of the GdPicture family!

Ok...
I downloaded and installed v10.2.18 and that resolved the bigger issue of printing from GdViewer.
So all is good there!

I came up with a work around for the Scrollbar issue...
After creating the GdViewer object, I set the ZoomMode to FitToViewer (keep aspect ratio).
After the "first" image is displayed, I set the ZoomMode to the desired setting.
There is a quick "zoom flicker" only on the first image, but the Scrollbars display properly once the final ZoomMode is set.

So I think we are good and will be able to deploy our application fairly soon.

I have a few questions about deployment of the libraries...
But I shall put those questions in the COM Interop section since they would be more appropriate there.

Thanks for the help and hope I don't have to talk to you too much in the future :-)
