Hi,
We are using Windows Forms C#.Net and GD Picture Imaging SDK v11.1.0.14
We are storing the scanned image in the database. Since the database is growing, we would like to see is there a way to reduce the size of the image.
In terms of black and white, we are currently using bit depth factor "ConvertTo1BppAT" for reducing the size of the image.
In terms of colour, we are currently using bit depth factor "ConvertTo8BppQ" for reducing the size of the image.
Consider, we have converted the actual image using the above methods and stored in the database.
In case, if we need to get back the original image with same quality by updating to actual bit depth. can we get it? is this possible?
Regards,
Guru
Is it possible to Get back the original Image?
Re: Is it possible to Get back the original Image?
Hi Guru,
I have seen, that nobody has replied to any of your posts - terrible
So I will try to help a little bit. When you reduce the colordepth you have lost all informations about the original image, so you have no chance to get it back. Also the most compression-types are not lossless.
What kind of database you are using? Is it a DMS or ECM System? The most applications do not store images as a BLOB in a database. They only have a link to a file in a storage-device (SAN, NAS, ...). I know it's gently to store in a database because you don't worry about backup, etc., but you have also disadvantages when your DB is growing and growing. Maybe its a solution for you to store the reduced image in the database and a link to the original image?!?

Harry

Nobody answered this thread because multiple duplicate threads have been created in addition to multiple support ticket duplicates that have already been answered weeks ago.
That's why it makes no sense to post the same thing everywhere, it slows down the whole process and in the end this kind of stuff happens.
Cheers!
